After looking around for some moderatly cheap HP increases, I came across this.
Thoughts???
It seems very cheap to me, but it is a genuine JDM part...

Will this give me much of an increase on a relativly stock 2.4L automatic ???

Will this set of my Check Engine Light?

Might be more of a pain having to take it off everytime i get my car inspected (once a year in PA).

Are there any other cheap ($0-200) parts i could get to pep up an automatic?
I feel like my car in a stick would dominate me in a race... what can i do to pep it up ???

Keep the cat, for the minimal hp increase its not worth polluting the environment.


Removing the cat is only good if you have a fully built race engine, and you dont.

 

Nice ride winndogg. But realistically speking, removing the cat and adding a "jdm" one will only give you a slight HP gain, IMO not worth it, save and get your self a complete system, you will be more satisfied with that dude.

And as far as pepping up your car for cheap, you can go with a simple SRI from ebay, and NGK plugs IR,and wires.

I already replaced the stock plugs with Bosch Platinum LR Fusion Iridium Plugs ($8/ piece)
decent high performance plugs

As for the air intake i only have the K&N high flow drop in...
would i gain more out of a Short Ram Intake or the CAI ???
would this make more sense to have it in my wheel well or just sitting in my engine bay

my car doesnt have spark plug wires... only the wires that go to the coils (can i replace these with performance wires?)

 

Yeah i know those plugs are good(top seller at my job).Colder air means better throttle response,engine performance and environmentally friendly if your a tree hugger. lol. But whichever one you choose to get will be better than the drop in. As far as replacing the coils, never really looked into that before. Stock should be fine i guess.

 

funny that you say that.... and funny that i decided not to get the hollowed out CAT cause im an environmental scientist haha, i guess that puts me on more of the tree hugger side

i think im gonna get rid of the K&Ndrop in and just get the CAI
maybe Injen? AEM ? Typhoon ?
i just wanna make sure i have a good filter protection if its in my wheel well.... water = disaster

 

I got my injen from ebay for about $160.
But thats just me being me.
Theoretically you can just get a cheap CAI or SRI and change the filter to a K&N.

If i were you(and i love trees), i would go with the SRI, due to the fact that you seem unsettled with the risk of having water damage of any sort.
