straight pipe?
are there any companies that make straight pipes for the 2000 accord ex v6? done some searches and havent come up with much of anything really, except rocket tips like those mentioned in another topic lol. looking to keep it 2.5 or under
As ang said, a local muffler shop will do straight pipes for cheap. I don't really think you can buy pre-made "straight pipes" anyway. They need to be custom fitted. Get ready for it to be LOUD though!
When I think "straight pipe" I think people mean pipes coming straight from the header/exhaust manifold going straight to the back of the car with nothing in the way to hinder the exhaust flow (i.e. cat, muffler.) I saw it all the time in my home town on V8 trucks.
I know what you mean ..... means almost the same to me too, but from what I've seen, they usually leave the cat. I'm interested to see what the term means to JCM61. It sounds like he just wants a mid-pipe from a cat-back system, but it's his place to tell us what he wants.
I straight piped my 05' before i went with Greddy and wasent very happy with the results. The car was suprisingly not very loud and it actually hurt my preformance....made the car bog in low rpm's. I think it was due to lack of back pressure. Also if you are thinking about straight piping make sure you replace oxy sensors.
Backpressure is a myth. A properly sized pipe will have about the same backpressure as a 3" turbo setup except that the 2.5" pipe will move the exhaust a lot faster and keep it hotter. I'm not surprised that you lost power, that's why we pay for the cat-backs where the intake really doesn't matter. What size piping and what did you eliminate on your custom job?
