I need help with my 1985 Honda accord lx sedan. The carburetor is giving me problems. The car will run and drive like a dream but if I'm in any gear at about 2300 rpm and 2800rpms the car will stutter and lurch and do so more when I push on the gas in any gear. If I let it coast it randomly dies and has a he'll of a rough idle. Just now I tried to tune the carb and the two windows are now full of gas instead of halfway full and won't budge niw matter how much I turn the screws. Please help I love my car I rebuilt the top of the engine already. 1985 honda accord 1.8l
The float bowls are overfilling because the float valves aren't closing properly. That's not any kind of external adjustment. You have to get in there to check the float valves & see why they don't close.
That's a beautiful car. Have you considered upgrading to a Weber carburetor?
Agreed. My late neighbor had a maroon one of the same year, 5 speed manual. He was in his 60s at the time, like I am now (with a '99 5 speed manual).
That is one of the best looking generations IMO.
