1986 Accord LX Engine Miss (Carb/Manual)
Hi Everybody.
I am new to the forum. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I just bought a 1986 Accord LX with 2.0L (12 Valve) and carburetor/manual transmission. Nice shape but had an engine miss and stumbled on acceleration.
I removed the head and did a valve lap. All went well. Head gasket/intake/exhaust gaskets were replaced. I also had to replace needle and seat in the carb. Valves set to specs. New plugs. New timing belt. New distributor cap.
Engine starts and sounds good but misses. Compression is around 165 for all cylinders. All plugs are firing. Removing plug wires from #1 and #2 causes the engine to slow down. Removing #3 and #4 makes no difference even though spark plugs are sparking (tested with spare plug laid on block and plug wire attached). Plugs 3 and 4 are burning black (carbon). Plugs are AC Delco R43xls.
It is almost like no fuel is getting into 3 and 4 cylinders. All vacuum lines are hooked up (I think correctly).
Anybody able to help?
HELP./ John
