Default 95 Honda Accord 2.2L looking for advice

Ha all!

I'm new to this forum and I have a few questions about modding my 95 accord LX wagon. I have had this car since it had 60,000 miles on it and now it has 163,000 on it. I love it, but I'm thinking I want to turbo it. I haven't seen very much about my 2.2L on other forums online and I'm wondering what is the best way to safely improve on power output. I've owned several cars and played around with bolt on upgrades, but never turbo or supercharged. Any advice would be greatful. Since my vehicle is worth around $3,000 I would like to keep it under $1,000, and if possible I would like to spend less if I can.

Any advice would be helpful

Specs of my vehicle included are;
-2.2L 130 hp engine, not sure what type of engine, but it's the one that came with the car.
-four speed automatic transmission
-everything is in working order
-four door wagon, no sunroof

My goal for my vehicle is to possibly improve gas miliage, increase power, keep it a reliable everyday driver.

What I need is advice on how to achieve this. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and plan on doing the work myself. I have very mechanically inlclined friends who can help me. I try to check my forum often and I will post pics of my vehicles on here after I take them and with as I go through the upgrade progress.

Thank you for your help!

Chris

Welcome to HAF.

For your plans and your budget - not sure how this is going to work out for you. The turbo and the right this to go with it are going to be close.

Boosting is the easiest way to make power. But to do it right, with quality parts and such, you will need to be willing to spend at least $2000. Good news is, the F22B2 (your engine) is actually great to boost. It has low compression and an iron block. Throw in some ARP headstuds, brand new seals, and gaskets and you can reliably run 8-10 pounds of boost, if you have a quality kit.

Yeah its not going to happen on a $1000, budget, and its not going to increase gas mileage either.

Good luck with what you want to do with your car..lots of people want to do what you want but they have a problem of not starting out with a fair amount of cash and then they run into problems and never get their project finished.

Thanks guys, I'll have to purchase some parts and sit on them for a while then. From what I've read I have to go with a manual transmission, which I'm all for. As soon as my tundra gets paid off I'll be able to put more money into it. I don't want a 10 second car, just something more fun to play around with without spending 30k on a sti or something. Plus it's fun to have a project. I was thinking of running around 8psi, but not sure exactly what turbo/parts I would need. Again, I'm very new to boosting and would like to get into it.

Thanks!

Chris
