Accord Mk7 in UK
HI, I recently bought a Mk7 Accord Diesel 2.2 CDTI that had been off the road for a couple of months. The reason it had been off the road was due to overheating, I attempted to get it to my home from the vendor and found that the temperature had climbed well beyond half way after maybe 15/ 20 minutes and in limp mode at times I assumed due to overheat. Recovered to home, drained radiator, fitted new fan temperature switch and new battery replenished coolant, ran the engine stationary for 30 minutes at 1500 - 2000 rpm, reached normal temperature, no fans needed steady half way up gauge. So my question is: Does the signal from the radiator switch go to the ecu and therefore if faulty could it mean the thermostat does not open hence overheat? Diesel engines run pretty cool so I'm not surprised the fan doesn't cut in whilst stationary in a UK autumn (fall) Reluctant to drive on the road at the moment until fully sorted out. However whilst on the drive at 2500rpm seemed to drop in to limp mode, once revs drop below 1000 rpm acceleration picks up as normal with no warning lights. I am going to get the ecu interogated next week to se what fault codes there might be but any ideas views in the meantime would be useful. Thanks in advance.
