Brand new Accord Owner
Hi everyone,
TODAY I am the proud new owner of the Accord EX-L and loving it! Used to have an '87 and loved that one as well. One quick question, when do new owners do maintenance? And what needs doing? I opted to NOT pay in advance and use coupons instead. Honda said oil change each 5000 to 7000 miles. That's great! Thank you for your replies! Also hate the way the headrest feels~ I have a hurt neck and it aches it. Moving it up helps a little, but turning it around helps the poor neck the best. Don't want to do that though if it's unsafe. Any comments?

Welcome
Hi CarolJoan. Welcome. Congrats on your purchase. Who did you buy your Accord from? Honda dealer? If so, they should have it up to date with maintenance. Also if you got your owner's manual, that is the best guide for service. You can also do a couple of quick, easy checks of the oil and transmission fluid for starters. If the oil is anything less than a nice brown and/or the transmission is anything but a nice shade of red, you might want to change them. If you have other concerns, you might want to consider taking it a Honda dealer or other reputable mechanic for a little checkup. Also curious what year your Accord is.

Thank you
Thank you for your kind replies. It is a brand new 2011 Accord, and I did buy it from a Honda Dealership. The owners manual is right in the glove compartment and I will refer to that for oil changes and maintenance. The dealership is about an hour away, so I will go to a closer one for maintenance and oil changes; they tried to sell me a very expensive pre-maintenance program, but I did not buy it, and am very good about doing these things once I know when. My previous vehicle, a Tahoe had 236,000 miles on it, and I was very good about oil changes all the way through its 11 years, and the vehicle served me very well..... still can go another 100,000 probably! I bought a Honda because I wanted another safe and reliable vehicle, but this time didn't need such a big one
