Default egr valve extended warranty

Is anyone aware of an extended warranty for egr valves. year 2000 3.0 v6 vtec.

car was having problms at 0ver 3o00rpm, car would sputter.

computer diagnostics says code is vtech 401 egr insufficient flow.

mechanic says the extended warranty was a bored out egr valve.. problem was carbon deposits on the valve or the opening into the block i guess

i already had the egr valve changed on the car last year???

any info or advice anyone?

tks

there must be more serious problem than just an EGR valve - have you tried to run higher octane?

Default RE: egr valve extended warranty

Spent a couple of hours on the phones with some dealers regarding the problem with the egr valve.

Turns out honda had and extended warranty to 80,000 miles on this part.
they have a whole program in place, of course not enoughto vover me at 120K though!!!!

They perform some mod to the egr valve, they actually have to bore it out to make sure that there is sufficient flow in there.
The service tech explained that carbon deposits in there resrtict the proper flow of the mixture going through there. parts themselves, $83 dollars, labour 225.

Can just buy the part and install, some special tool is required to bore out whatever it is they have to bore out.

I checked this out froma couple of sources got basicaly the same stories.

Right now the car is sluggish as hell, no more stuttering at over 3000 rpm but still very sluggish.

still releived that i did not blow my engingem that;s what it initially felt like,
