Default Hello Accord Fans

Hi, new member here. I've been an Accord owner since 1996 and I was a Civic owner before that when I got my first Honda in 1989. I don't buy cars very frequently, but I think I'm just about to get another one-- an 08 EX-L with SatNav.

I've found dealer invoice pricing on Edmunds, but I've read that there are other things that affect a dealer's true final price that they pay for a car, such as kickbacks, incentives, etc. Is this HAF a good place to learn about those details, or would someone tell me where that kind of info is available?

Anne

I bought an '08 Coupe EX-L 4 cyl auto and after the 72 payments are done, I will have paid $26,400 TOTAL. Negotiations and a good interest rate are the key.

BTW, welcome to the site.

Thanks for replying to my post, and thenks for the welcome! I've already learned new things just reading for a short time. When you ask what I'm looking for, do you mean what do I want in the car, or what kind of info am I fishing for?

The car: looking for an 08 EX-L 2.4 l 4-cyl with SatNav and 5-speed Auto. JBL sound system with the XM option.

The Info: Edmunds shows a sticker of $28,060 and an invoice of $25,416. However I've read that there are other factors that come into a dealer's calculations when they decide what price to negotiate to--kickbacks, etc. What I'm trying to figure is what their real cost on that vehicle is. I'm not interested in screwing the dealer out of a fair deal; neither am I inclined to hand out extra $$$.

One specific detail I've wondered about is how much of a kick the dealer gets for writing a finance contract with a company like GMAC or similar. Also, does Honda pay an incentive to the dealer after the sale?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here it your best advice for buying a car. From the Honda website, find your local dealer and contact the internet manager. Simply tell him/her which car you want and they will give you a great price without the typical negotiating. For example, I'm looking at a 2008 Accord and depending on which specific car, they are offering for $200-400 over invoice. And this amount comes in at least $1,000 below the edmunds 'true market value' price.

Welcome! I bought an '08 Accord last week and the dealer didn't tell me about the added cost until I was on the lot. I got pretty upset and as I was leaving, they agreed to waive the cost (which got me even more angry knowing they were trying to pull a fast one, but you can't blame them though).
Easiest way for me was: send out an email to internet managers at your local dealers and start a price war. Most will say anything for you to come visit them in person so make sure you have the price they quoted in writing. Good luck!
