Hi, I drive a 1993 Honda Accord Se and just noticed a sort hissing noise, sounds like it could be coming from the muffler or something. I am not sure what the problem is but it happens when I accelerate. if anyone can help that would be AWESOME! Thanks.

 

You might have a rust hole in either the muffler or the pipe itself. If you have a lift (nearby, or can borrow), and doing a visual inspection. Otherwise you're looking at jacking it up and running your hand around it while it's running, feeling for escaping air. Try the flange joints first, as 1 might have loosened up. Sorry that's the best I can do, as I live in the salt belt where rust can happen anywhere.

 

Thanks. Had my mechanic check it and he said there is a small hole in the pipe making the noise. Not something super major so I am happy.
