honda accord 1994 ex 2.0 non vtec horrible fuel mpg
the honda accord I drive has a horrible mpg. Latest fuel fill up almost 14 gallons gave me 159 miles full tank. So thatīs about 11 miles per gallon. Keep in mind this is city mpg and mostly short trips and few times there was heavy traffic. I remember this only one time I got about 268 miles on a full tank, but it was about 95 % highway.
a few parts I have already replaced.
map sensor
tps sensor
spark plugs ngk iridium
spark plusgs cable ngk the blue ones
oil filter
cleaned fuel injectors
asked the mechanic to calibrate engine valves..not sure if they actually did it
the only thing that I think it might help but haveīt chenged yet is the distributor
there is no oxygen sensor. I had a couple mechanics searched on the intake manifold and on all the exaust pipeline and cat exaust. But no oxygen sensor was found. So havenīt been able to replace it.
there is no obd2 port, so there is no way to get some scanner plugged in. Instead this accord comes with some three pin obd1 port. I tried to get error messages, but check engine light remains on but is not giving any codes.
keep in mind this is not your typical american made accord 1994 ex 2.2 liter, instead itīs a japanese made 2.0 f20b2 non vtec manual 5 speed transmission. No ABS, no air bags. But there is AC and it works fine. I think this accord was made to be sell in the southern asia countries..
so after two years of owning this 1994 accord, I have been unable to either figure it out myself or paying a mechanic to fix this really bad fuel consumption issue. Bty the car has km odometer which shows 262.000 kms which is 162799 miles. I think thatīs the original mileage unless the previous owner had lowered it. which is pretty common in the country I live.
