Hey Everyone, I just bought my Accord on Friday and wanted to intoduce myself and get aquanited with all of you! My name is Justin, I'm 16 years young and I bought myself a 2001 Accord <3 It's a V6 EX fully loaded with leather interior etc etc. The best part of my car is that is only has 40,700 original miles! I'm the second owner and I look forward to gradually making changes and improving my car. I joined this forum after finding it so helpful when I was researching how to reset my SRS light by jumping the MES.

Welcome to the forums Justin. While I hate to be the barer of bad news the 98-01 Accords(Especially the V6s) were prone to automatic transmission failure so that is something you will want to keep an eye on. Also you will want to be make sure to change the fluid at the factory specified intervals.

 

Yes I am very aware of the auto transmission failure problems. I'm not too worried about it though because I know Honda has extended the warranty to 100,000 miles on the transmissions. Also, my stepdad was the Used car Manager at a Honda dealership for years so I know I will be able to get it replaced for little or no cost to me when or if the time comes. As of right now it still shifts incredibly smooth so i've got my fingers crossed it stays that way!
