My Car Won't StartWaaaaah!
Greetings from cold New Jersey. I've been owning Accords since 1984.
My car won't start. I changed the battery in the remote yesterday, and it started yesterday, but it won't start today.
The car is a 97 Accord and I'm thinking the remote just bit the dust. None of the red lights go on when I press the buttons.
Should I just go to the dealership and buy and new remote? Can I test the remote to see if it is faulty?

Er... I dont understand what dying remote and non-starting car have in common?
If the car is unlocked and the red LED on the steering column isnt blinking, then the alarm immobilizer isnt interfering with the starting.
You can remove the two screws and open up the remote. Remove the other little screws holding the circuit board down and clean the circular metal contacts with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. Then, clean the contacts on the rubber pieces between the buttons and circuit board. This should bring hte remote back to life.

RE: My Car Wont StartWaaaaah!
YOU are a genius, my friend.
I cleaned the connections (I didn't have any rubbing alcohol, so I used nail polish remover which is mostly acetone, which we used to use in chemistry class to clean things) and, Voila! The red light (on the remote transmitter) went on when I reassembled and tested it. Then, I did go outside and was able to remotely lock and unlock the car, and also start my car. (My car is configured so that I must press a button on the remote transmitter in order to start the ignition.)
Thank you, thank you, thank you! And thank you for this great forum! I'm a new and happy member.
