Default New guy in Maine

Just bought a 2001 Accord Couple in LX trim with the ULEV 4 cyl engine automatic with OD. Wife needed a good fuel efficient car to commute to college that did not make her look "old" LOL.

Needs a new clock spring and a spare key, has just over 100K on it now.

Trying to figure out at this point if genuine Honda parts are better for the clock spring or aftermarket at half price would be ok. I am not sure used is a safe bet so I want new. The key i have is obviously not genuine Honda so I am not worried about that.

Welcome aboard from New Hampshire(well Afghanistan now).

I have never bought an aftermarket clockspring. But if I were in need of one I would feel confident ordering one from rockauto.

I also would be reluctant to order a used one.

If it's just got 100k miles, make sure to figure out whether the timing belt has been replaced. Every 100k miles or 7 years. She might not be amused having to walk home from college after the pistons hit the valves. :O
