At 5,700 miles, I took my 2011 Accord in for a minor service at the dealer. Well, they told me the steering system was leaking & they gave me a rental car for a couple of days while they replaced the whole rack & pinion system (under warranty, of course). Hmmmm, parts & labor indicated on the invoice were $985.00. It would have really ticked me off if it happened out of warranty.

I know things aren't made like they used to be but I'm rather surprised.

Anyone else experience something like this with a new car?

Can say that I've heard of that on the the newer ones. Can you tell us the description of the part(s) that were replaced?

The invoice only says "Replaced Rack & Pinion System."

 

That is odd....if I had to guess......1/2 or less of the cars on the road will ever have to have the rack replaced before they go to "big yard in the sky". Guess it was one of those things, glad for you it was still under warranty.

 

Sounds like maybe this car could have been in a wreck perhaps..what do you think Poorman212?

Well, I got it new & the odometer had 6 miles when I test drove it.

The total on the invoice was $985.00.
