Hi. I just purchased a 2009 Honda Accord, 4 cyclinder. The remote keyless access keys don't work as they should. On one, I have to click a bunch of time and the other simply doesn't work at all. I like to do it myself if it's possible but don't want to cause more problems because I'm a complete novice. Otherwise, I like to know what the problem is and how the mechanic should fix it before I bring a car in so I can talk with some knowledge and be less likely to be ripped off.

If it is not the battery (e.g. dead), then it may be due to excessive gap between the remote's printed circuit board and lower cover. Honda issued new remote transmitters to fix the problem. It was previously replaced for no charge if under normal warranty. If replaced, the car has to be programed for the new transmitter. See TSB:

Honda TSB 09-099

Since you may no longer be under the normal warranty, you can try giving the battery a quarter turn, as shown in the superseded remote info. I've attached. That worked for me before and a few other people.
