Permission to come aboard
Just bought a "new to me" 2013 Accord EX with only 24k miles in near new condition. White sedan with ivory interior
So far I am thrilled with everything about the car except the audio which is mediocre or barely acceptable. I may fix that in time to come.
Not sure if I love the CVT yet but it seems to be really good for MPG's. I certainly didn't buy a 4 cylinder to be a race car.

Welcome to the forum, Greatwhitewing
I agree, the basic radio & 4 speaker system is disappointing, we've found that upgrading the speakers does make a difference
Personally, I like the CVT + drive by wire + 4cyl... great acceleration and ultra smooth shifting
Enjoy your Accord... 24K mileage is new for a Honda

One thing I have been doing a lot of lately is reading about audio upgrades. I would like to do an upgrade someday, maybe in the fall but I hear one of the most important things to do is a decent sound proofing/damping/deadening to really get anything approaching really good to great results. If I'm going to take panels off, might as well do it right while in there.
I have read a lot of "keep_hope_alive"s posts here and on other forums so I have a rough idea of what's involved for labor and costs (more of either than I have right now)
Just got back for a 600 mile + trip and couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Thanks for the welcome.

I was going to suggest looking at some of KHA's posts for ideas. You might go ahead and start a thread in there to gather ideas and plans (budget).
Don't get me wrong and I mean no disrespect to anyone. The sound you want and the cost can be managed, you just have to decided on the trade offs.....not sure if that makes sense or not.

I know I don't want or need a show quality rig, just want to enjoy my tunes since I have gotten spoiled my first home theater system. I know better is attainable without a second mortgage.
Audiophiles remind us that what our ears hear comes from the speakers... Yes, of course, other parameters are important too, yet if I have X $ to spend.. I should spend at least 50% of that budget on the speakers.
Since the mounting ports are already in the car, adding quality tweeters (in addition to upgrading the 4 panel speakers) will make a noticeable difference

I did just read in another forum a guy who tried all sorts of combos ended up stock head unit, added tweets cause he had a sport and an add on powered subwoofer under the passenger seat driven with LOC's
My plan for now is modest sound proofing/deadening and by modest maybe $100 worth. Polk DB speakers, component in front, two way in rear and an underseat powered subwoofer. Add an AMP later if I feel the need.
Should be 600-700 bucks approx
