A friends headlights have been blinking on and off at random for a couple days and then last night wouldn't come on at all. However the brights will work fine. It doesn't sound like a bulb or a fuse problem. Any suggestions on what it could be?

 

mmm actually does kinda sound like a bulb problem. maybe its the switch though too or a fuse. does he have those cheap *** aftermarket bulbs in there. if he does then its prolly the bulbs. the sylvanias that are in the high beams will run forever.

 

I dunno how it could be a bulb or a fuse. If the fuse was bad, it would be blown and nothing would work. If its a bulb, you could swap the bulb out and see what happens. Maybe its a switch

 

simple, if the bulbs have to much wattage (like more than specifed in the manual to use) then the lights will burn out faster. not only that they can also burn the wiring to the bulbs. fuse would probably the last thing to check. but if your friend is using higher wattage bulbs then required, take them out immidiatly. my friend had that problem on his car; put in high wattage bulbs that burned up in a week or two and also burned his wiring.
