H22 head Swap!!!

I was reading some posts andread about some H22 head swapping and i wanted to know what would i need for this change and how it's done and how difficult is it....which f23 part will i keep? also what are the benefits of this and if I would be able to add some extra boost to my soon to be turbo accord. Thanxs guys for ur help!

RE: H22 head Swap!!!
Some basic benefits to the H22 head swap is that you upgrade your accord to a DOHC. Since you have the extra cam you have extra exhaust valves, so you'd probably need to change your header. The H22 has better compression ratios and all that complicated stuff as well. In general, it's just a much better head than the F23. Also, while your at it, you might as well change your piston rings too while your engine is taken apart. If the shop offers it, you can mild the motor as well.

RE: H22 head Swap!!!
First off...both the f23 and h22 are 16 valve. they have the same number of exhaust and intake valves. With the DOHC of the h22 the intake and exhaust vavles use different cams so there is more tuning ability. Second the exhaust header is attached to the block..not the head, so you would not have to change that.
Third the compression ratio is mostly a factor of the different pistons on the h22 and f23. ALthough the combustion space is slightly different, it is only very minor. We're talking like .2 compression difference.

RE: H22 head Swap!!!
It is possible, search Honda-Tech.com in the prelude section for the write up on it. You end up blocking 2 oil passages in the H22 head and have to do a little fabrication with the water jacket on the back of the block. Doing this head swap really lowers your compression to a pretty boost friendly level. It's not that hard to pull a head off and put another on. Also, unless you're gonna tear down the whole block, there's no point in changing the piston rings and if you were going that far you might as well completely rebuild the motor.
And umm...shadow...the header is attached to the head, at no point is the header ever attached to the block on any car. And you would have to change it b/c the H22 and F23 port designs are different.

RE: H22 head Swap!!!
You beat me to it.... Headers or the exhaust manifold are attached directly to the head..... If you do it let us know what you think of it... anyone priced out a H22 head yet just to see what kind of costs are involved and what kind of gains to expect?

RE: H22 head Swap!!!
You got a header for $250? What kind? I got my OBX for $160 shipped and I also want to do the H22 Head swap. I don't want to have to change the header though but looks like I will have to. If only my car was a stick, I would go all out on it. The auto is the only thing holding me back, lol.
