it's a turbo manifold actually... and the shipping for PR is very expensive....besides, it cost me more than that, because they sent the wrong one and i had topay shipping double so i could get the right one! 250+60... don't let thefact that it's an auto hold u back!

I just spoke with my cousin about the H22 Swap, and he says one thing, to make sure that I know what I'm getting myself into before I do it. The two cons he stated for the swap are:

1) It's going to cost a lot (Maybe a G or so, less if you find a deal)
2) Your car loses its reliability.

Now #2 is what I'm more worried about over #1. I mean there's a reason why automobile engineers get paid 100K to design these engines. He said that an H22 head, although it fits on the F23 block, and it will work, it becomes very unreliable and the estimated life of the engine decreases. He even told me a story of a guy he knew who owned a Civic, swapped out his engine head, block, and trany, to an ls block, gsr head, and gsr trany (integra). After a while, his valves blew and he had to replace the head. Now I don't want something like that happening to my car, it'll cost a fortune to fix.

Does the car really become THAT unreliable when you swap out an entire engine or just the head?

Decreases from what? Abuse? Install error? Poor condition of the parts being put on the car?

That stuff goes for anything. If you're unsure of the condition of the head before you swap it on then send it out to a reputable shop and have it gasket matched, new valve seals put in, etc and give it a basic once over. Then if you're unsure of your own abilities, have someone or a shop that knows what they're doing intsall it for you.

I swapped out the stock head on my F23 for one that I had sent out to be ported, polished, bigger bore tb, intake manifold and everything gasket matched, head milled, etc. I did 99% of the work myself not knowing fully what I was getting into. I've put nearly 20k miles on it since I did the swap and have not had one problem what-so-ever.

The guy that did the LS block and GSR head was doing a LS/Vtec swap and those by themselves aren't exactly known for reliability b/c everyone thinks they can rev them to the moon. Which is exactly what it sounds like if the guy blew valves.

So is the H22 head swap the best and safest (most reliable) swap on an f23 block? What did you have to replace when you swapped your f23 head with the new h22 head? How much did it cost you?

I didn't do the H22, just stock F23 for ported F23. Things you should replace are the headgasket, all belts, cam seals, distributor seal, intake gasket, exhaust gasket, valve cover gasket.

With the upgrades I have listed below, I'd say I have about an extra 15-20 hp, that's it, making my car about 170hp now. What can I do to make it at least 250, while keeping the same engine? What other upgrades are there that gives a huge boost, besides a turbo or supercharger.

Do you think that's to the wheels or at the crank?

your only other options are put a lot of money into an n/a engine build or run a 75/100 shot of n2o but that will need a little engine work as well

blkcurrantkord, you should probably leave that as assumed, after all no one ever dyno's their car for upgrading i/h/e or even for other little mods
