P0045 Code
2018 Accord 2/0 Sport.
I have gotten the christmass tree warnings (Everything malfunctioning warning, TPS, Sterring, Braking, Emissions etc. Two times this year. Car seemed to drive fine despite warnings. Since I had also gotten these with a bad battery in the winter (which reset with new batery) I tried a battery reset and codes were still there. Tried 3 time restarting to check. Waited 40 minutes and decided to go to Auto storte to check codes. (left my reader at home) to see what I was up against. Lo and behold no warnings. The code reader at the store showed an old code in memory (P0045 - Open circut code for the waste gate solinoid). Took it to dealer they saw no codes, everything fine.
Car ran fine for 6,000 miles/months then it happened again. This time I had my innova code reader and it confirmed 3 instances of same code (P0045). I waited 45 min, cleared codes and all was fine. I could still see stored code, but after acouple of days it was gone too.
I noticed two similarities about both incidents. Long time stuck in traffic at idle. First time was in partking structure for 45min to an hour. Second time stuck in traffic going only 1/4 in an hour, engine seemed pretty warm.
I am guessing this is a heat realted issue with either some wiring connection, the wastegate solinoid, or the wastegate actuator itself.
I saw similar reports on a tuning forum, for guys under warranty most just got the turbo replaced. Others found the OEM solinoid (Mitsibushi) for the 2.0 Civic R resolved.
Anyone else see this?
