are you looking to change to a "catback" exhaust or looking to change out the catalytic converter?

Also what is a bad noise? It could just be the heat shield rattling so I wouldnt go replacing a catalytic converter as they are pretty costly.

But to answer your question when it comes to replacing either one................it depends. Replacing either would be a pain without a lift but its not impossible. What might require a shop is getting them off as often the bolts are rusted on and cant be taken off by conventional means. You often need a torch to cut the bolts off.

Sounds like you'd better let a shop with a lift get at that for you...
