Car sales experiences
Yesterday, I decided to drop by my local Honda dealership and look at the new 2019 Accord Sport 2.0 with 6mt. I test drove the car along with my wife. Decided to negotiate a deal with the manager. He told me that he would give me the invoice price. When he brought the price it was actually $700 higher than was listed on his website. He than began to tell me about the "add on's". I told him I didn't want any of the crap that he hung on t he car and asked that it be taken off. Even with that removed, he didn't budge on the website price. This dealership has three 2.0L 6mt's all white. They have been on the lot for more than 6 months. I told him that these cars will be on the lot next August, nobody is buying the Accord, sales are down 18% from last year and manual transmission cars are definitely not sought after. When I began to walk out he said to wait, we can do better. I said that I was serious about the car, but after seeing that the car was not being discounted further than the website price, I no longer had interest. I didn't want to spend my day negotiating with sales people. My 2000 Accord with 265K miles still runs great, gets good gas mileage, and works fine as a daily driver.
I'd like to hear your experiences.
