when i was detailing i would let the engine run for about 10 minutes to get good and hot. then, with the car running,i would get some degreaser and spray it down, you will probably want to stay away from the spark plug holes if possible, and throw a plastic bag over the distributor. then i would use a water hose and spray the engine off. after i was done, i would let the car run for an additional 10 to 20 minutes till everything was pretty well dry. i would shut her off and spray some sort of chemical that made plastic shine up. i cant remeber the name of it though. after that i would wash the car really well, cause there was always degreaser on the paint. hope this helps. adam

I would not advice cleaning the engine,,( spraying it ) while engine is running,,
YO Honda_Dude junior ..( since there was 1 already )

with engine off, spary some degreaser in the engine, then get a water hose and rinse it all off

I have done thousands of cars this way and have never had a problem,, ( depending on year and model i would adevice to cover the distributor ),Once all rinsed off, pull the plug wires off make sure no water got in the holes especially if they are non-honda plug wires ,
