Have you replaced the fuel filter lately?
If the connections weep fuel with the engine running, down goes the mpg.
Fuel leaks in the return line can be hard to spot, especially if you have rub protectors on flex lines.

 

By weep do you mean leak?

I have never seen any gas spots on the ground or smell it from my car.
