Man I love the purr of my wet tuned exhaust, my motor always fires on the second pull. Can't get that from a nitro...

Psh... on a fresh rebuild of the motor it starts on the first pull. It's more an issues of priming it correctly.

Do nitro motors not use rings to seal? That's what seems like from what I was reading about ABC nitros. Man I have seen everyone struggle to get their nitro started, then once they do they tinker with it for half an hour. I pull my motor once and choke it, and it fires on the second pull with the choke off and throw her in the water. Gas is better than nitro hands down, not as dense with power but way more toque. "4hp" nitro wouldn't even move my boat. I know a 25cc nitro would have more power, but who would want to mess with that?

EDIT: Not to mention the sound, gas is pure sex. Especially mine since it is wet tuned, water is injected into the exhaust at the header like a real sports boat, and really makes it sound throaty. Not the swarm of angry bees you get from a nitro lol

My pistons done have any rings on them, completely smooth bore and a ported cylinder sleeve. I don't think they can use rings on any nitro because it's a nitromethane/alcohol/castor oil mix, the oil wouldn't be able to get past the piston and lube the cylinder walls. That's the main reason why you have to tune them so much, it needs a tune to started cold and another tune for when the motor heats up and it actually starts making decent compression from the expansion of the metals.

* That line is not there on my piston.

I think it's the wet tune exhaust making the sweet sweet sound. I think I paid around $80 for my dual chamber muffler with a spring to adjust backpressure as the rpms increase, and it's lower than the typical hive of bees sound, but still there. Plus, it's a large displacement motor, same thing as I4 exhaust vs. V8 exhaust.

Ohh yeah it's because of the wet exhaust, some dry hot pipes can sound like a big ol nitro motor. Canisters and wet tuned are pretty throaty, but the wet tuned sounds so much better especailly bobbing in and out of the water. You can hear the tone change when you throw her in the water and the water starts flowing it's pretty cool actually.

Man I hope tuning a nitro isn't to big of a PITA, that really sucks. And I'm not so sure that's why they don't use rings. Most small gas engines are piston ported like your nitro, and the oil is mixed with the fuel. As the fuel goes up into the transfer ports it lubes the ring and clinder wall, and the piston bearing.

Nitro's not hard to tune at all. I haven't tuned mine is over 2 years and I still remember how. Close high speed needle, open 2 clicks, and tune 1-3 clicks + or -. Simple as that.
