Seriously?....

There is a ribbon cable that connects the jack and hold switch to the motherboard. All you have to do is open it up and plug it back in. I can't imagine the freezer doing anything but damage...

It apparently isn't the ribbon, it is some sort of chip or whatnot. But yes, the freezer trick does work. I left it in there for about 4 minutes and the sound came back for another 30 minutes or so. I dont think it has anything to do w/ the ribbon b/c you have to put pressure on the lower right of the iPod for the sound to come back. When the motherboard gets cold, it contracts, so most likely it is a broken solder joint.

SO. If you find a ipod video w/ no sound and works w/ the freezer trick....buy it for cheap and get it replaced or repaired for free!

 

There is no chip, the pressure is probably pushing on the ribbon cable making a connection. I really doubt anything from apple would come with a cold joint.
