Default Quick Engine Question...

I see stuff all the time about "DOHC" and "SOHC" what does this mean?
And which one is in my car... if it even is one lol

97 accord ex coupe has the F22B1 2.2L V-tech engine in it.

THANKS!
Kevin

Dont know about your car but;

SOHC - Single OverHead Cam,
DOHC - Dual OverHead Cam

This specifies whether there is one cam controlling all the valves or two cams one for intake and one for exhaust.

EDIT: Looked it up... Your's is SOHC.

all f22 engines are a Single Over Head Cam.
with exception of the f22b (prelude) and the f22c (s2000) engines. But NONE of the accords from previous years of 03' have a OEM DOHC engine from the USA.

To elaborate more DOHC is the more desired set up so you can have different specs for your exhaust and intake valves.
