Default Switching from automatic to manual

so i just bought a used jdm engine for my supra today (dad picked it up actually) and i guess it used to be in an automatic car...well mine is a manual, and i know i can still use this engine with my manual but im curious...since it was an automatic the risk of this engine being abused is probably more minimal than if it had been in a manual tranny right? i dont know how the japanese drive their automatic cars so im guessing this engine will be better than i thought...i hope

sounds logical... i know my accord auto will shift pretty hard sometimes at WOT, but that is expected... are you planning on just dumping it in or rebuilding it and what year supra do you have?

its an 85 supra but the specs on this specific engine is 3.0 L, Inline 6, 190 hp bore x stroke 83.0 x 91.0mm, compression ratio 9.2:1
190HP/5600rpm, 26.5kg-m/4400rpm (191.5ib-ft/4400rpm)....i dont plan on rebuilding it since it only has like 45 k miles on it but i am changing all seals and gaskets

I guess at 45K miles I wouldn't worry about it since I doubt it was ever raced with an auto and if it was driven hard I would worry more about the tranny than the engine. Good luck with it.
