Default Toyota recall // double edged sword

I was just reading the flate rate for the gas pedal fix pays 5/10s. Not too bad for warranty pay.
But if I was a tech at Yota, I'd be running VIN status checks on every car I got, and check for other warranty issues as well as past due services.
Figure if you are already filling out the warranty paper work you might as well go for any other work.
Those guys have a great chance to get on the "upsell trail", as well as getting a better customer retention.
Free fixes make the dealer look like 'heros', and people remember freebies.

If I was a service manager you can bet your butt I'd be having a 10% off scheduled service sale with the recall notice.

The post title states "double edged sword"; Common meaning is that it can swing 2 ways

Maybe your Dad needs to hire intelligent workers; Advise him that "if ya pay peanuts ya hire Monkeys"
If your dads service writers and service managers can't turn this into a money making opportunity they are COMPLETE MORONS.

I just simply stated that all the yota dealers are mandatory to stay open till 8pm and that this recall is a big deal. If his store is making money or not it's none of my business. No need for stabs at my dad’s employees. He's been in this business for over 30years I think he knows what he is doing. I was just sharing some info that I found out since my dad’s works for them. Sorry for posting in your thread my bad!! Sounds like someone has some frustration they need to release.

I just saw a TV ad for a Toyota dealer where service dpt. stays open 24-hours (for now). So at least a few dealers are going beyond the 8pm requirement.
