Why do people hate imports?

hhhhmmmm, now that Fiat owns Chrysler Corp., is it still an American company? Couldn't it technically be an "import?" (I can't imagine thinking of the Dodge Challenger and Charger as "imports").
I guess it is now in the same league as Honda and Toyota......its parent company is based overseas, but it is made in the U.S. Kind of ironic, isn't it?
