Go lowering springs Dont use coilovers. But anyway H&R or Ibach make great springs. You will need a camber kit if your going to do it do it right. This will save you money in the long run.

Lowering kit. You lower the car any more than an inch and you'll put to much stress on the stock struts, so you'll want to replace those at the same time. Getting a matched spring and shock in a kit well give you the best for your money. You could get better overall performance if you buy the struts and springs seperate, but it'll cost more and you will have to do some research to make sure the spring loads and rates and the shock dampening work well.

im on tien s-tech springs1.5/1.8 drop... im eventually going coilovers for better handling (rough ride though).. the s-techs are perfect.. might want to change your struts eventually if you are lowering the car with springs.. i paid about $180 for the springs. get dc struts eventually.. fit nicely, no hassle like with those no name brands.. kinda costly but worth the extra labor and they have a repriable warrenty.

If you buy quality coilovers your ride will not be that stiff. I have K SPORT coilovers that ran $700 and they ride smooth. A little stiffer than stock but still comfortable. My motto has always been (if your going to do it, then do it right).

I also want to lower my car eventually, but I can't find a reliable camber kit, and in particular a camber kit that doesn't cost more than my spring setup. What's a good one to go with for a 99 lx? Also, I was going to go with Tein S-tech's or H-techs. What's the preference between those springs, and/or do I even need a camber kit for that amount of drop?

Did you have to get a camber kit? I want to lower my 99 coupe and I am trying to see how low I can go without one. Thanks.
