lowering springs

i wanna buy aftermarket springs to drop my car a few inches. is it alright to put aftermarket springs on stock shocks? or is it better to get aftermaket shocks also

You can use lowering springs with stock struts but don't expect to have them last too long. The lowered height and going over bumps will wear them out prematurely because the are compressed more than normal. Also, your ride quality will be pretty poor. I would imagine that if you hit a good size bump at speed it is going to bang. Of course this also depends on low you go. I would recomend getting a whole set up. If you're going to tear up the stock struts anyway, why not replace everything once. Hope this helps
