Default squeaking noise

everytime i turn my steering wheel, i get the squeaking noise coming from my driver side front. but it only makes noise if i make like a quarter or half turn, when i turn the wheel all the way, nothing. and only happens at low speeds. and it also squeaks when i go from a dead stop.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Open the hood & listen while someone turns the steering wheel. Pinpoint the location of the sound. It might be the PS drive belt.

It's coming from the driver side front. I had my friend turn the wheel each way, and it's only the left front wheel. Makes noise turning both ways.

Yeah, but is the noise coming from the wheel or is it coming from the steering-pump drive belt? Maybe try a poor-man's stethoscope - scrap piece of garden hose held up to your ear. Don't get caught up in the spinning belt.

Is this on your 72 Pinto? It would help to know what car...
