Question New Tire/ PSI question

OK so I have about 9,000 miles on my stock michelin hx mxm4 tires and they are about 2/3 done. So I have to choose new ones. Are the Pilot Sport PS2's good? And also, they can be inflated to 50 PSi, so should I do that or go with the stock PSI. I want a firmer Ride btw.

If you are using the stock tire size, the best inflation pressure is posted on the sticker inside the driver side door. Tire pressure is not arbitrary. It is based on the weight of the car and its distribution. Correct tire inflation will improve balance and handling because it provides the best tire patch contact to the ground. Over inflation causes you to ride on the center of the tire and underinflation causes you to ride the outsides.

Look at this .... the little boxes tell you how to find the right pressure.

Default right, but

using a different size...245/40/18 instead of 235/45/18 would make a difference, as well as the fact that im going to be getting an extremely high performance tire

Then follow the article to find the proper inflation. Performance rating of the tire has nothing to do with correct inflation pressure. I have Toyo Proxy 4's and they are inflated to 32 in the front and 29 in the back because thats what the little sticker says. If you want to pump them up to 50 psi, it's your car, but remember that if that is max pressure, when the tire heats up, it will be higher than the rated max and that is not safe.

FYI - That size difference won't make much of a difference for inflation ..... and don't use Auto X practice as a basis for how you inflate tires for DD use.
