Default A wheel question

I know I need a 5x114.3 bolt pattern on my rims, but what about offset? Or What does it mean if the size is 18x8? I know the 18 is for the diameter, but what does the 8 stand for? I have a 08 LX-P..so if anyone knows what if this will make any difference whether they will fit my car or not a little help would be great.

Go to a wheel store and ask what size wheels you should be looking for width and offset and grab a few free catalogs... then don't buy from them and score free info. +35mm to +55mm is usually the range of Honda wheels. If the wheels you really like aren't pushed far enough out, H&R and Eibach make high quality, track-rated wheels spacers.
