widest wheel and tire combo

Default widest wheel and tire combo

i am looking at doing atleast a 1.7 in drop on my 90 accord. what is the widest wheel and tire combo i can run with out any rubbing issues? i was looking at 17 in wheels. what about proper backspacing? what tires would you recommend for good wett and dry handling?

You can go as wide as you want. You could get 13's in the rear with an extreme offset but it would look horrible and kill any acceleration you have. Standard usually is 17 or 18's that are 7 in. wide. Offset is around +45

i got a 91 accord and my tire width is 225, horrible for the rear because when i have people in the back, it drops down and the tire rubs against the inside fender thing of my car.
if i were you, i would get 205 or 215
that's what im planning to do when i get new tires too, so that i can lower it without rubbing
