Hood Latch cable $%#&&!!!!
Went to change the oil on the wife's 94 EX 4dr. and the hood release would not pop the hood. I undid the cable from
the handle and pulled with the pliers and that did not work. What now? There seems to be plastic panels blocking the
view in the grill. Am I going to have to booger up the grill or is there a shortcut? I also posted in DIY but I am desperate.

what honda dude said. ALso you might want to check to see if the latch is working properly once you get the hood open (make sure cable is releasing the latch) If the latch does not move, lube it up and if it still does not move, replace it.

I think the cable is fine. It seems like the latch is frozen. I have tried holding down the hood while the pulling the cable but no luck. I am sure the latch neeeds service but how to get the hood open to get to it is my problem. I haven't had a chance to get underneath but will there be a chance to get at it from there?

you can get a small straw spray nozzle from something liek wd-40 up in there to spray it, have someone push down/pull up and kind of "rattle" the hood around the area where the latch is while you pull on the cable and you should be able to get it free, if not spray it some more with the wd-40 and let it sit then try it again like 10 minutes later... after a fair amount of cursing and some lubricante I'm sure it will come open!

Figured it out. Undid the bolts holding the latch mechanisim. Had to remove some of the plastic in the grill blocking one of the bolts. The cable had come loose from the latch and is broken. Thanks for the replies.
