Need advice on install of Heat shield for 05 V6
I have an 06 Accord V6 which has a rattle in the heat shield engine cover.
Dlr wants 300 in labor to R/R the 30 dollar part.
Any advice on DIY for this would be appreciated.
Thanks Tom

Not sure what heat shield engine cover you're referring to. There is a plastic engine cover on top; but, it does not serve as a heat shield.
For a V6, there are three convertors. Are you referring to one of those?

That's the heat shield for the intermediate shaft.
There are 3 bolts that hold the heat shield onto the intermediate shaft. But, the service manual shows Exhaust Pipe A (aka J-pipe) being removed first to access it. (See attached images.)
You may be able to use swivel sockets, etc. to get to the bolts without removing the J-pipe.
This other thread shows the drive shaft, intermediate shaft and shield removed. They make no mention of the need to remove the J-pipe.

If you jack up the car and safely support the car with jack stands, you can take a look to see if the three bolts that hold the shield are accessible without removing anything else.
6-point sockets have less chance of rounding the bolt head compared to 12-point sockets. Swivel sockets or swivel adapters or crows-feet wrenches might do the job if there is some space.
