the other option is to get high temp connectors or a high power relay kit and use 80W 9006's and 100W 9005's. I did that before my HID's ...... only problem is that after about a year and a half, one of the relays fried and left the light on killing my battery ...... popped it out, got a jump and the car was fine.

 

that's not a bad idea, but remember i'm going for the best but cheapest solution! i think some "plug-and-play" bulbs will be the best bet! those philips that ludedude recommended look really good. i'll post pictures if i get them (of course, as a xmas present, i won't be able to until after dec 25!!)

 

I know some people might be against this but I bought some xenon bulbs off of ebay for 17 bucks shipped and that was both low and hi beam. they are way brighter than stock and they give a nice white/blue glow. dont know the name though but I know they were japanese. you did say cheap.LOL

sorry for the long disappearance. just gave my girlfriend the sylvania x-tremes for xmas. the ones that claim up to 80% brighter. my verdict is:

definitely brighter. you can see it by looking directly at the bulb (i did one at a time and checked it, should have taken pictures but i didn't). you can see way more light reflecting inside the housing. however, it is still "yellow" light, so if you're looking for white light or blue light, this product isn't for you. basically, it looks completely stock, and frankly is SHOULD be the stock bulb -- it's not great but definitely better, and for $50 you can't go wrong, unless, like i said, you want a white/blue bulb.
