Protecting alloy rims
My 98 EX sedan rims are getting pretty scuffed up. I've got 142k on the car. My wife and I don't parallel park ever really (just no need to) so I know it's not from scraping against the curb. It just seems like it's from road debris. How can I protect the rims from getting so scuffed or pitted. It's not so much the face of the rim but the edges of the rim.
It's can't be the tire cleaner, can it? I just wash the tires with a normal brush and the car wash detergent. I then use Armor All's Wet Tire spray.
I had to buy a nose cover ages ago to protect the front from chips from road debris. I live in NJ and drive rt 80 often and I think that's the culprit. But then again, I see a ton of people with rims that look just fine and they do the same amount of driving on the same roads.
you use a BRUSH? what kind. yea they have a special coating that keeps em nice and shiny if you use anything abrasive or caustic on em they will look real bad. give em a good wax to bring back that nice shine.
It's not the shine that is lost. It's scuff'/ding/chip marks from what appears to be road debris.
I clean the tires with a brush but I use a towel to wipe the rim...the towel lets me get in between the spokes to take out brake dust.

I see you're in Toms River. I used to live in Marlboro with my parents ages ago. I'm up in Hackettstown now. I actually have some college friends in Ocean Township and get to Point Pleasant once in a blue moon.
