Default Is $300 fair for an iPod integration

Hey guys. So after a bit of research I finally have something to report. I called a local car audio guy and he quoted me $300 to install an ipod integration kit into my 2004 Accord.

I can't remember about the rules for posting links here, but the specific product is this one. I was also quoted $300 to install the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth device. The Rules are No Direct Sales Links In Your Posts

The installer will come to me to do the work. Are these prices fair? If not, what would fair prices be? I don't think I'm able to do this type of work on my own, but if I'm looking at getting totally ripped off then I'll see if I can get a friend to help and pray I don't screw everything up.

dono how much the parts cost but it depends on the price of parts. if the job takes 2 hours and parts cost 125-150 id say 300 is ok cus your payin about 75 per hour for the install.

Thanks. It looks like this is the same part and it is $150. PAC uPAC-HON1 Vehicle Speci

Everywhere I have read online says the installation can be done in an hour . . . IF you know what you're doing.

The Parrot unit is $200 but that is the retailer's site so I'm sure it is less elsewhere.

Do you think the guy would be insulted if I offered $500 for both?

Well, good thing that original link was removed! I called pac-audio today and it looks like I need the ISHD571 in order to support iOS4 on my iphone. The part is $130 from random online places I've never heard of and $170 seems a bit steep for installation.

I agree that $170 is steep for install for OEM interface. You're only removing the radio which takes about 5 minutes. Then it's solder and heat shrink if you need to tap wires, otherwise most units just plug into the radio and are all harnesses that match factory.

I think you can take on this install, and you'll be glad you did and have that wonderful sense of accomplishment.

I'll get to your PM soon.
