03 ipod options

My friend wants to hard wire in a ipod because he has the FM transmitter now and isnt pleased, so what are the options other than buying a new head unit

Best Buy has a product called the iLink or something like that. Its around $100 and is universal. Sounds waaaay to expensive for me...as all iPod things are (Go creative Zen)
