Default 2005 radio/cd player - no display

hello,

recently just bought a 2005 honda accord se, 2 door, 4 cylinder with 158k miles on it. when i turn the ignition on, the radio displays a blank orange screen with nothing on it. no response to power button or any other button.

however, when i disconnect the battery of the car for about 10 mins and re-connect, turn on the key, the radio works fine. orange back light, clock and radio stations are displayed and sound works fine. but cd player does not work. turn off the key and turn on again, radio is still fine. turn off the key and come back after several hours and the radio screen is blank again.

anyone know what is wrong in this situation?

thanks,
j

I've moved this to the audio section.

Not sure but some of these (around that year model) had issues with the factory radio. can't remember the details......hope someone who is better with audio systems can chime in and give you some help.

PS - Thanks for joining HAF

sounds like the radio is going out. I know on the 7th gens they offered an extended warranty on the radio but it was only to 110k. you can take it to honda and see what they say.
