The worst part for me is, I drive our 2006 EX V6 coupe everyday for my job with a sound system that has better sound than our 13 EX Coupe. So every time I listen to music it reminds me how poor the 13 is. Pretty sad commentary on the new car when a 7 year old stereo sounds better.
Sad but true.
I still want to hear back from nfmexl who had the problem with the car not starting. The same thing happened to me last week, after the patch, and I wonder if there is a connection. I think he and I are the only two that have reported this problem and I wonder what they did for him. For me they said it was a bad battery but I don't know.
Now I don't trust going out at night in it.

I have had the "update" installed twice on my Accord. That is 2 times! Here are some problems:
The phone book downloaded, about 90%. That is better than the approximately 40% that previously downloaded. This has since changed.

· I have since lost ½ of the phone book download.
· I have not been able to see the contact photos on the caller ID since the 2nd week I had he car.
· The “Call History” has not updated for 1 week.
· The “Text Message Reader” works when it feels like it.
· The caller ID gives the number but no name.
· The FCW periodically goes off when passing another vehicle. Usually when the vehicle is alongside.
· The headlights will periodically “blink” or dim then get brighter again at night, (every few minutes at times).
· The screeching from the speakers has started again. Has become incessant!
· The “woofer” volume increases and decreases at will
· The Bluetooth disconnects then reconnects to the phone periodically
· AHA radio does not work at all.
· The “History of Driver A” no longer updates.
· I actually get better mileage with the “Econ” button off. There is a 2-4 mpg difference.

The car is back at the dealer today! I can't wait to see what happens this time. Everyday is a new adventure with the 2013 Accord!

I understand your frustration. I have been putting up with more or less the same things sense Oct. 2012 when I purchased my new car but I never had it not start till after the second time the update was installed and I wonder if there is a connection. Easter Sunday night I was going out to a town about 30 miles away and I took my other car for fear of being stranded with no one to come and get me. Someone suggested class action but the only winner there is the attorney. I'm not sure what to do.
I am going to contact the North Carolina attorney's generals office and get their input.

For those of us that are on our second patch / update and still having problems I found out something interesting. I called the Attorney General's office and was asked to fill out a complaint form and that I might want to Google North Carolina Lemon laws. I pulled up NC lemon law for new vehicles and in NC if you have to have the same defect repaired four or more times in a 24 month period you are entitled to a replacement vehicle or a refund of the purchase price. The defect does not have to be a safety related item, it can be anything you paid for, on the car, and are not getting.
You may want to pull up your states laws.
I am still not seeing anything from any of the major auto review sites discussing any of our problems.

Jeez - my problems are not that bad. My non-start issues only occur when the phone system is having a meltdown and I shut the car off, hoping to "reboot" the computer. Then it goes nuts. The car has never failed to start outright, only at reboot.

I haven't been able to get the car into the dealer yet. Still waiting for a loaner to become available. Hope this "upgrade" makes things better, not worse. Will post again after I get it back

One of the reasons I bought the car was because of the rave reviews from all publications, both online and in print. It is very strange that nobody is aware of what seems to be a systemic problem. Maybe we should let them all know...

I agree.
As a longtime subscriber to Consumer Reports, I was very disappointed when I read their review of the 2013.
No mention of any of the issues posted here.
As picky as they seem to be, you would at least think they would notice the poor sound from the stereo. Not to mention the nav and bluetooth issues. Makes me wonder how thorough the really are whan they test a car.

New member here. I've never owned a Honda. When I buy a new vehicle my aim is to keep it for at least 10 years. The time has come for me to purchase a new car. After careful research and reading all the reviews I had decided that the Accord EXL was the car for me.

I'm glad I stumbled onto this forum. I had already visited a few dealers and was ready to sign on the dotted line for a Still Night Pearl EXL V-6 Coupe. Music is an important facet of my life so a top notch stereo is essential in a car I plan on keeping as long as I do. After reading this entire thread I decided to register and give my 2 cents worth.

I really hope for all the individuals who have responded in this thread and all the others who are having issues with the 2013 Accord that the Honda engineers solve the electronics problems so many of you are experiencing. It really seems that Honda has used the cheapest electronics they thought they could get away with to put in the Accord. Cheap speakers, under powered amplification, and unproven software for the phone and NAV systems is NOT what I expected out of a Honda priced in the 30K range. That's a deal breaker for me. I am now looking elsewhere for my transportation needs.

Maybe if Honda's marketing team does peruse these forums they will see this post and realize these problems are driving people like myself away from Honda products to other brands which are less troublesome. It's a real shame too. I really like the way the 2013 coupe rides and handles on the road. But it's obvious from reading about all the problems with the 2013 model that this car is not for me.

I will continue to follow this thread to see if Honda does follow through and corrects this engineering nightmare for everyone involved. Maybe I'll hold out on my purchase to see if all the bugs are worked out on the 2014 Accord.....Happy Motoring!!

Good luck. There's a lot of good cars out there. It just sucks. There's not many coupes out there in the $30K price range like the Honda.
But knowing what I know now, I would be looking elsewhere as well.

Default Patch applied in Canada

I know that, like me, there are other people from Canada monitoring this forum so I thought it would be good to update with Canadian experiences.

I have the EX-L V6 without NAV and have been experiencing a lot of the problems listed previously. My biggest problems are with 1) Bluetooth (no download of Phonebook), 2) both cameras stop working and 3) the poor sound. Everything except the Bluetooth seem to self-correct when the vehicle is restarted.

Finally, Honda Canada has issued the patch. I had it applied last week and there are still sound issues (subwoofer volume does not work at all) and Bluetooth problems. However, the patch appears to have caused another glitch... the compass direction is no longer displayed on the screen. I have access to the compass controls but no display capability. This worked well before the patch.

An interesting addition. I have only had the car for 6 weeks so when I was waiting for the upgrade, I asked my salesman to bring out another car, exactly like mine, so we could try the Bluetooth. It downloaded the phonebook perfectly so I then had access to the other Bluetooth functions not available on my car. Same phone, different car, much better experience. Honda now says that they need to replace the Bluetooth module, even though it checked out perfectly on their diagnostic scan. Of course, they don't have any Bluetooth modules... they are back ordered and no indication when Honda Canada will have stock.
