Default Speaker info..

nfmexl..
if you would be so kind, please give me the model numbers of the speaker replacements you installed in the car. I am really unhappy with the stereo as it stands and your point is well taken- in the long run I may be better off springing for the speakers-if indeed that's all I'm looking at. I had assumed the stereo itself was inadequate for decent sound, or I would need a preamp, etc..if you found it that much an improvement, I may go for it. Every time I turn it on, I get reminded what a terrible system I paid for. This is intolerable and actually has me thinking about dumping the car in the fall. And certainly not buying a Honda. I do like coupes..so maybe break my piggy bank and go for a G37. This is a much cheaper alternative, for sure.

Thanks much.

I went with replacing all the speakers with top line Infinity's, which are the only quality 2 ohm speakers I could find. I further went with a powered Infinity subwoofer, which is an absolute necessity if you want to fill in the bottom end.

the end result is really quite somthing. The sound is rich and full and you can crank it to the point of pain with no loss in definition and no distortion. Yes, it cost about $1,000 and it's an expense that shouldn't have to be incurred on a car of this price. But, if you're keeping it and want to really enjoy it, please consider it. Over the span of ownership, it really doesn't average out to all that much. I actually look forward to listening now.
nice to see someone willing to fix a problem. it does suck that you have to spend more money, but now you are happy with your car and I bet it is well worth the 1k you spent instead of spending another 30k on a car. kudos to you sir.

Thanks for the info.
I may have to consider this as well. We would prefer to get a different car, but I think we would lose too much money doing it. Was the $1000 for it installed or did you do it yourself?

Let me look up my receipt tonight and post it then. As an aside, I took the car over to my son's house last night. He is a car audio "freak" and thinks nothing about pouring 5k into a car stereo. He was impressed

I had not used the Pandora and or Aha since the firmware update until I got a new phone, the HTC One. I noticed almost immediately that the sound quality with Pandora and Aha was significantly better than all other sources. Well today, I accidentally figured out why. It has nothing to do with the firmware update and all to do with my phone. My phone has BeatsAudio software, and I had that set on. It actually applies that to bluetooth streaming. I turned it off, and the sound went back to sounding like pure crap. Turned it on and the volume is boosted and the bass is much richer. This leads me back to my original assessment that it is not the speakers that are the issue with the Accord. It has to do with the signal and amplification (which is why the first firmware update improved the sound, if only minimally).

Note that Honda uses the exact same speaker system in the Civic with Premium audio, the Acura ILX Premium, and the base audio in the TSX. The differences between these cars are the sources of the audio head unit and amplifiers.

Also, interesting to note, if you visit estore.honda.com, you can see a listing of every part on any Honda. For the Accord coupe with Navi, the audio amplifier unit for the 2013 Accord is listed as "discontinued". Already? Whats the replacement? Why was that one part discontinued on a brand new car?

Here's what we put in the car -

4 - Infinity Kappa 6.5 speakers - these are 2 ohm speakers
1 - Infinity BassLink sub amp combo

We also disabled the ANC, which seems to have a negative effect on the sound quality. After all this, I really have an audio system I enjoy.

Warning - this is not a DIY job unless you are highly qualified. My installer took most of the day doing this installation and most the interior out of the car, especially in the back.

If you plan on keeping the car for any period, this is a very worthwhile investment

Default Text messaging problems with Honda Accord 2013 EX

I just bought an Accord 2013 EX. Its a lovely car but i am having some problems with the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4S iOS6 and the text messaging feature is not working the accord.

I dont seem to see any text messages when my phone is connected via bluetooth.

When i hit the phone option on the menu, i dont see any option for text messages.

I am not even getting text messaging notifications when someone sends me a text while i am driving.

Default 2013 Accord blutooth, but no nav

I've had my Accord since Nov. First 2 weeks, Pandora worked great with my Blackberry. Text worked good, too. Then the volume had to be turned way up and you could still barely hear it. Had the patch...still didn't work. Just got an iPhone5. Pandora works again, but text messaging does not show up at all. I would like to know if anyone has an iPhone and is able to get the text to work. The email feature didn't work with either phone. Glad I didn't get the nav. Love the car, but the technology was one of the main reasons I bought it. Pretty sad...

When I pulled the detailed instructions for the radio they indicate that if you have AT&T as a carrier, it's not supposed to work at all but I am occasionally alerted to incoming text messages...but I'm not supposed to be able to read them until I have the car in park (still, sometimes it does allow me to read them on the iNav screen or be read to me by the system.

Are you sure you have the text functions properly set-up? I say that with all intended good will. Perhaps a "driveway" test when you're not on the road is in order?

If you don't have the detailed instructions, email me and I'll send you what I have (bolomk34@gmail.com).

(I'm SOOOO looking forward to the Siri update sometime this summer!!!)

Default Phone compatibility

Honda doesn't exactly advertise this, but they have a web site that shows exactly what features are supposed to be supported on what phone.
Here is the link.

Personally I have an iPhone 4s on iOS6 and I haven't been able to get the text message reading to work even though the web site says it should work.

But anyway I hope this helps.
