Default 96 Aftermarket Head Unit

Hey, I have a 96 vti-s.

I have an aftermarket HU and want to install that and keep the stock pocket underneath. Do I need a mounting kit for this? If I do is it a double-din one? Sorry, I know crap all about cars.

Tried searching, didn't find anything specific.

Cheers.

You can use the factory radio brackets to install the aftermarket HU. It is called ISO mount. There may be a small gap around the HU, or the aftermarket trim ring may work.

Start without as I described and see, post pics.

Thanks, I'll try it when I get the wiring harness.

But first...

I changed the two stock front speakers with new ones and now the car will not start or do anything. It has no power or anything.

I disconnected the neg terminal before starting and re connected it when I had the first speaker in, first one worked.

Took the neg off again to install the second one, reconnected the battery once it was in...and NOTHING . No lights on the dash or ignition light thing.

I'm freaking out....

Please tell me I didn't somehow blow my car up.

Likely, the Ground is loose. Clean the terminal and tighten.

I've cleaned it with a wire brush and tightened it but still nothing.

I just checked the elecs again and the only thing that works are the hazard lights.

EDIT: So I tried it again; didn't do anything differently and it just decided to work. The light ring around the ignition doesn't light up, though. Everything else seems to be fine.

The stock pocket wouldn't fit, neither would the "universal" one.

So I put the Aerpro one in without its faceplate thing 'cos it wouldn't fit with it on.

So I'm just gonna glue it on, on top of the other facia. I know I could just shave down the faceplate a bit, but I don't think it's worth the effort of taking all the crap out again. What a damn nightmare that was...

What kind of glue would work for this.

One more question; can you change the firmness of the driver seat? Feels like I have a boulder lodged in my lower back when I drive.

Sorry for the huge images.

there may be a paddle on the right side of the drivers seat that inflates/deflates the lower lumbar support.

it is possible you loosened a harness behind the radio during install.

odd that the mounting kit doesn't fit. i don't have issues with Metra kits fitting.

super glue works but discolors the surface, silicone is removable - both would be needed to be glued from the rear so you don't discolor the visible front.
