It's not so much pulling the whole dash; more like pulling the center console. Still, that's a lot of stuff before you get to the radio. I bet you'll get better answers in the A/V Elect. section so I'll move this over there.

pulling the factory radio takes me about 3 minutes.
here are the steps (from memory for my 2001)
1. remove clock/hazard from between the two middle vents. this just pulls out. disconnect the harness(es).
2. remove one phillips screw behind that.
3. remove two phillips screws on the bottom of the black trim plastic radio trim piece, just in front and above the shifter. you'll need a stubby phillips, and may need to bend down to see them.
4. remove the black plastic trim that houses the A/C controls and vents. the radio stays put. Disconnect the A/C control harnesses.
5. remove the four 10mm radio bolts. slide out radio.
