buying the good adapters (i like PAC-Audio or USA-Spec) lets you minimize (or prevent) cutting factory wires). incorporating the AUX jack in an OEM type manner is based on your own fabrication skills.

a good unit will have good instructions and be plug-and-play.

for a description of how to get behind the factory radio, download the instructions from Metra-online for your year/make/model head unit install kit.

thanks Keep_hope_alive, i have a 06 honda accord. and thanks for the sites and audio refrence points! the only thing i am concerned with is shorting out my system. i saw a few online videos on intalling new audio. 1 had you take the negitive lead from the battery off and you have to punch in a factory code to get it to work again. is it nesesscary to pull that lead off or can i just plug and go?

You can leave the negative connected with plug-n-play harnesses, but it is always safer to disconnect. The radio will need the code anyway when you unplug the harness.

Just follow the PacAudio and Metra instructions and you can ignore videos. Most videos I see are from people I wouldn't let near my car. You can't trust the Internet!
