Getting Crisp Sound in an Accord Wagon on a budget
#22
I've got an oppertunity to get an Alpine 3552 AMP cheap from our equivilant of ebay.
Any opinions on if this as suitable?
I can't find a lot of info on it, other than: http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/...-any-good.html
It's no longer listed on Alpines site, so I assume it's a fairly old model.
I found several other forums where it was praised, and highly recomended. Although not super powerful, people seemed to think it had great sound quality.
But, you know what opinions on forums can be like.........
One concern is it appears to only have RCA inputs?
My headunit is the ultra budget model with no pre-outs.

Can't say I've heard about that amp, but since it's alpine I sure it's a quality amp. I found some specs HERE. The amp is a nice size for running a front pair, but will also work just fine running all four. If your on a budget I highly recommenced just running the front speakers, and get the absolute best speakers you can afford. Running four cheaper speakers will not sound very good, and in the end you will spend more money to replace those cheap ones with quality ones, than if you just started with the right ones to begin with.
If your HU only has speaker outputs than you need a LOC(line out converter). Most LOC's you buy at an audio shop are sub par quality to say the least. If you want to get an LOC locally try to get one that connects to power, stay away from the ones that just hook up to the speaker wires.
